Mission

The Duval County Public School System is committed to providing high quality educational opportunities that will inspire all students to acquire and use the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in a culturally diverse and technologically sophisticated world.

Vision

Schools will be learning communities in which all students are inspired and supported to attain excellence and graduate as responsible citizens successfully participating in their chosen pursuits.

Every student will experience a challenging curriculum with high academic standards and effective instruction that includes educational technology, accommodates a variety of learning styles, and uses high quality curriculum materials.

Every student will be educated by effective, caring and creative teachers and administrators and supported by parents and families and members of the community.

Every student will be educated in a safe and secure learning environment that stresses high expectations, personal responsibility, respect for diversity, and life-long learning.

Every student will be responsible and held accountable for behavior and academic performance.

Schools will exist in partnership with the community, embrace its diversity, and develop partnerships with employers, community agencies, and other academic institutions to support and enhance the education of children.

The highest possible level of academic achievement for every student.

· High Academic Standards - Higher academic standards for all students in every subject, with annual progress enabling all students to achieve the goals by 2001.

· Challenging Educational Programs - A rigorous curriculum, effective teaching strategies, increased use of technology, and expanded career and technical training to prepare students for the 21st century.

· Environment that Meets Student Needs - Highly trained and motivated teachers, the most effective strategies, high-tech learning tools, uncrowded classrooms, good student behavior, and a strong focus on learning.

· Measuring and Monitoring Student Learning - Use of computer technology to pinpoint, monitor, and report every student’s strengths and weaknesses to help each student reach academic goals in every subject.
